Below is a screen shot from our garmin software with our exact location as of the time of the pic.

Accurate as of March 1st, 2008. We are in Esperance, Western Australia.

Just days before we left, a very cool new product called Spot Satellite Messengerwas released. We had to have one. Besides just providing all the same functions as epirbs costing 4x's as much, it also has a super cool function that updates our location every 10 minutes to a google map. We are working with them now for a way to integrate that map into this site. So soon our location will be visible to the world, accurate within a few feet, automatically updated every 10 minutes. Stay tuned for that, it will be very cool.

--- Update to the spot situation. This is the part of the e-mail I sent them.

My questions are about how I can share my spot cast routes with other people. Ideally there would be a way to embed an automatically updated map into my own website. Is there a way to do such a thing? Failing that, at least being able to provide visitors to my site a 'public' login to the spot service they could use, that would allow them to see the map but not be able to see/change all the contact details in there would be good. How could I do that?

This was the response I got.

Hi Patrick, We are working to offer that feature early next year.

So there you have it. No real time updates for the public until 'next year'. In the mean time if you want to receive our daily 'we're ok' e-mail message, which includes a map with out location, send us an e-mail.
